Who qualifies for hospice care?To qualify for hospice services, a patient should have a terminal illness in its advanced stages. Hospice services cannot be delivered while a patient is receiving curative services. Patients who elect to receive hospice services may discontinue hospice at any time to resume curative treatments. Hospice patients do not have to be bedbound or even homebound. Hospice patients can be relatively active. As long as patients meet the other requirements, even active patients can benefit from counseling, enhanced drug coverage, and other Hometown Hospice services. |
